Initiative to Attract Students Towards Libraries Even in the Digital Age

A library is not just a storehouse of books, but a vast treasure of intellect, thought, and research. That is why, even in today’s digital era, 

the importance of libraries is being highlighted for students and the younger generation. With this objective, an ultra-modern “Madan Kumar Mehta Memorial Library” has been established at Shree Jain Vidyalaya, Kolkata.

The modernization of this library was undertaken at the initiative of the school’s alumnus and senior advocate of the Calcutta High Court, Sudhir Kumar Mehta, and dedicated to the memory of his late father, Madan Kumar Mehta, one of the founding members of the institution.

The library was inaugurated on Sunday by Justice (Retd.) Ashok Kumar Ganguly,

 former Judge of the Supreme Court and former Chairman of the West Bengal Human Rights Commission. Among the distinguished guests present were Shanta Kumari Mehta (wife of late Madan Kumar Mehta), noted doctor  Dr. Amit Kumar Roy, school presidents Vinod Kankaria and Sardar Mal Kankaria, principal Sanjay Kumar Pandey, secretary Manoj Kumar Bothra, and several others.

Justice Ashok Kumar Ganguly remarked, “Without education, the progress of society is not possible. This initiative will guide the next generation on the right path.”

Sudhir Kumar Mehta said that the newly designed library, equipped with modern digital learning facilities, will allow students to access online resources, e-journals, and academic databases. This will enable them to prepare for higher studies, conduct research for competitive examinations, and develop innovative thinking.

The inauguration of this newly built library is not merely a project of infrastructural development, but the creation of a priceless asset for future generations. It is expected to open up new avenues of knowledge, creativity, and research for the students.
