IIM Bangalore Launches Second Cohort of Online BBA in Digital Business and Entrepreneurship

June 4, 2025, Kolkata: The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) has announced the opening of the second cohort of its Bachelor of Business Administration in Digital Business and Entrepreneurship (BBA DBE) programme. This new undergraduate programme, taught mostly online, is designed to increase access to high-quality education. Off to a stunning first year with more than 1,000 students from 29 states and 359 cities enrolling, the programme continues to attract increasing popularity.

Part of IIMB's endeavour to enhance undergraduate studies in India, the BBA DBE programme is instituted to prepare students with critical skills in digital entrepreneurship and business abilities that are becoming increasingly pivotal in the ever-evolving contemporary business world.

Speaking on the program, Professor Suresh Bhagavathula, BBA DBE programme Chairperson, stated: "We think digital business is the future of work. Knowing how to use digital tools in business is important for new entrants to the industry. We also focus onan entrepreneurial mindset, which is essential not just for entrepreneurship but for success in agile roles in large companies."

Organized as a three-year virtual programme, the BBA DBE is at foundational (certificate), diploma, and full degree levels. It can also be taken concurrently with other academic programmes as a dual degree option. The programme curriculum integrates core business disciplines with entrepreneurial skills and digital capabilities. In order to enhance affordability, IIMB has increased its scholarship opportunities for this new intake.

Highlights of the Programme:

● Flexible Duration: Three-year degree that can be done over six years

● Multiple Exit Points: Certificate upon completion of Year 1, Diploma upon completion of Year 2, and Degree upon completion of all three years

● Hybrid Learning Model: Online learning through recorded material, supplemented by live sessions with experts and faculty

● Proctored Offline Exams: End-term examinations are conducted at centres across the country to ensure academic integrity

● Alumni Privileges: Undergraduate alumni status is granted to IIMB graduates, providing access to networking and institutional events

Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants must have passed Class 12 with:

● Minimum 60% marks in General, NC-OBC, and EWS categories

● Minimum 55% marks for SC/ST and Persons with Disabilities

Entrance Options:

● Aspirants may take the IIMB DBE Entrance Test, evaluating analytical, verbal, and quantitative abilities

● Alternatively, applicants with CUET/JEE scores of 2023–2025 may apply directly

IIMB awards the BBA degree under the IIM Act of 2017, and it is of the same standing as any other normal undergraduate degree. Notably, nowhere in the certificate is there a mention of "online," so graduates are completely eligible for higher studies overseas, competitive examinations, and getting a job.
